Rhodes House is a historic building located in Oxford, England. It serves as the headquarters of the Rhodes Trust, an international scholarship program established in 1902 through the will of Cecil Rhodes, a British businessman, politician, and philanthropist. Rhodes House is situated in a beautiful setting on South Parks Road, near the University of Oxford’s Science Area.
The building itself is an architectural masterpiece, designed by Sir Herbert Baker in the early 20th century. It combines elements of neoclassical and Georgian styles, featuring intricate stonework, grand halls, and beautiful gardens.

Provision of Network Infrastructure and Cyber Security

Following an 18-month tendering process to find a strategic partner, the University of Edinburgh awarded the contract to European Electronique (EE) in 2019. The multi-million-pound contract to architect and implement a solution to replace the University’s entire wired and wireless network infrastructure, including firewalls, spans a period of up to 13 years. EE undertook an intensive detailed design process with the University to define and architect the solution in partnership with leading vendors, Aruba HPE and Fortinet.

In 2018, European Electronique (EE) was successful in winning a network replacement contract with the University, via the NEUPC HENSS networking framework, to replace their Cisco, EoL Procurve and H3C Comware environment with an Aruba solution across the edge, and L2 distribution wired estate.

Subsequent to the initial contract, in March 2022, the University undertook a bidding process to find a strategic partner to architect and undertake a project to refresh the University’s wired network infrastructure over a 7-year replacement cycle and provide thought leadership and innovation to work with the University on their longer-term networking requirements.

 

London Business School (LBS) is one of the world’s elite institutions operating in a global environment and as such they require a first-class networking infrastructure. 

The partnership between European Electronique (EE) and LBS started in 2016 and involved extending their existing wired and wireless infrastructure.   

EE provided all hardware and software, engineering, and project management and subsequently won the support contract for the network infrastructure across the entire Business School’s estate.   

Currently EE is working on refreshing their existing wireless system with the latest WiFi 6 standards using the new Aruba AX range of access points.  

The Trust provides clinical services at two hospitals to over half a million patients a year and employs over 3,500 staff, making it one of Hillingdon’s largest employers. 

In 2018 European Electronique delivered a project giving patients free Wifi access across the hospital. This formed part of a wider NHS WiFi programme with the aim of giving health professionals access to services and technologies to improve patient care.  

The infrastructure was upgraded to Aruba’s latest operating system (AOS8) enabling the Trust to take advantage of the new features providing better levels of availability, security and management. 

The David Ross Education Trust (DRET) is a Multi Academy Trust which consisted of 34 academies and supported circa17,000 students and other users. A state-of-the-art ICT solution was sought when further funding was awarded to open two more schools along with a number of Academy conversions. The solution needed to support technology and shared services across the entire Trust, removing any duplication of services. European Electronique was able to meet these requirements by using a blend of public and private cloud technologies, incorporating European Electronique’s own Freedom Cloud solution, providing greater operational efficiency and enabling the Trust’s continued growth.

In 2018 the Three Rivers Academy appointed European Electronique for the installation and commissioning of all ICT network infrastructure, client devices, classroom AV, telephony equipment and associated services.

European Electronique and the Trust worked in partnership on the strategic planning for the improvement of ICT systems across the Trust and on the enhancement of teaching and learning.

The vision for a Trust-wide mobile solution was realised, eliminating the need for staff to login to different systems.


HPE Aruba wired and wireless infrastructure was implemented alongside HPE Server and Storage together with HP All-in-One desktops and HP ProBooks for mobility.

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) was looking to appoint a supplier capable of providing hardware and IT services including device management and support across all Council offices.

The products required were client devices such as desktops, laptops, notebooks and printers with approximately 1,000 devices to be provided on an annual basis. The services included project management, imaging, configuration and installation of hardware, the refresh and disposal of existing equipment, support and maintenance including Disaster Recovery.

The chosen supplier was to provide a dedicated programme management, provide and maintain an asset register of the equipment installed, including information relating to software installed and legacy hardware, perform installation services as per the work schedules, include any change management and support the Council

New Forest District Council (NFDC) were looking for a partner to design and implement a new solution to replace its legacy ICT infrastructure to enable a smarter working environment for staff.  

Like many Councils, NFDC was undergoing fundamental change and ICT was at the heart of this process. The chosen supplier was required to provide the full scope of services including the design, procurement, commissioning and project implementation. 

The solution also included consultancy, audit and technical design, together with the organisational model required to manage the infrastructure. 

Newcastle University has one of the largest EU research portfolios in the UK with a student population of approximately 25,000. 

In 2018 the University issued a tender for a firewall solution and European Electronique was awarded a contract to supply and implement a firewall solution, together with associated support and services. 

The proposed solution comprised of a Fortinet firewall and associated products. Fortinet specialise in providing top-rated network and content security, alongside secure access products designed to share intelligence and work together to form a cooperative fabric.
