At European Electronique, we are passionate about empowering schools with the latest tools to enhance teaching and learning. Recently, we hosted a twilight webinar alongside Tablet Academy’s Simon Johnson, exploring how educators can begin their journey with Google Gemini – your AI-powered classroom assistant.

The session brought together teachers, leaders, and digital innovators to see first-hand how Gemini can support everyday teaching tasks, reduce workload, and unlock creativity in the classroom.

Why Gemini?

With so many AI tools now available, one of the biggest questions for educators is: Which ones are safe, secure, and truly useful?

Simon highlighted that Gemini, used through your school’s Google account, is ad-free, GDPR compliant, and private. That means teachers and students can confidently use AI without worrying about data being used to train external models – a key reassurance in today’s digital landscape.

The webinar demonstrated practical, classroom-ready applications of Gemini. Teachers saw how AI can:

  • Save time on admin – drafting letters to parents, creating consent forms, or translating communications into multiple languages.
  • Bring lessons to life – from generating creative writing prompts to producing engaging images or even helping pupils visualise complex ideas like forces or historical settings.
  • Support differentiation – simplifying texts for different reading levels, tailoring explanations for specific year groups, or scaffolding resources to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Generate lesson assets – quizzes, worksheets, and even model answers that students can critique, deepening their understanding of assessment criteria.

One highlight was seeing how Notebook LM, part of the Google AI suite, allows teachers to upload documents, videos, or websites and instantly create quizzes, flashcards, or even a podcast-style explainer.

Risks to be aware of:

As exciting as AI is, Simon points out the importance of balance. While Gemini can speed up tasks and spark creativity, educators must remain mindful of:

  • Data protection – ensuring no sensitive student information is uploaded.
  • Bias – recognising that AI reflects the data it’s trained on.
  • Accuracy – always double-checking content to avoid ‘hallucinations’ or factually incorrect information.
  • Handled thoughtfully, AI becomes not a replacement for teachers, but a powerful assistant that frees up more time for what matters most – supporting students.

What’s Next?

During the webinar one thing was made clear: teachers are eager to explore Gemini’s potential. If you missed the live event, don’t worry – we’ll be sharing the recording and presentation deck soon on our social media channels.

  • In the meantime, here are some ideas to try in your own classroom:
  • Use Gemini to adapt a lesson plan for different ability groups.
  • Create a quiz or set of comprehension questions from a video resource.
  • Bring students’ creative writing to life with AI-generated illustrations.
  • Use Notebook LM to build a study guide with flashcards and mind maps.

At European Electronique, we believe AI is here to enhance, not replace the role of educators. With the right tools, teachers can reduce workload, spark creativity, and provide more personalised learning experiences.

A big thank you to Simon Johnson and Tablet Academy for co-hosting this inspiring session, and to everyone who joined us. Keep an eye on our channels for future webinars and resources – and start exploring how Google Gemini can transform your classroom.
